On Monday 23 November 2026, at 4:30 pm, the "Alda Merini" Municipal Library in Berra, in the Municipality of Riva del Po, hosts a meeting of the Reading Group entitled "The words that break the silence". The appointment falls two days before 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The focus is on relationships, control and psychological and physical violence, explored through the pages of several novels: Le donne dietro la porta by Roddy Doyle, Tra lei e me by Giampaolo Simi, La femmina nuda by Elena Stancanelli, Nella buona e nella cattiva sorte by Marina Di Guardo and Lui mi ama by Thora Hjorleifsdottir. The meeting is organised by the Municipality of Riva del Po with the "Alda Merini" Municipal Library in Berra. Admission is free and open to all, and there is no need to have read the books in advance: it is conceived as a space for listening and open discussion for the whole community.
